Ari's playful approach to skiing is changing the dialogue in the freeriding world.
Arianna Tricomi is one of the most accomplished freeride skiers in history, winning the overall Freeride World Tour ranking three times in a row from 2018 to 2020. But Ari is more than just the sum of her World Titles, as a passionate surfer she brings a playful surf-inspired style to the mountains that makes even the most gnarly venues look fun to ski.
Born in the Italian Dolomites, fun and freedom are the central components to her style across all riding, whether she's sending steep big mountain faces like the Bec des Rosses in Verbier, charging the Canadian pow, cruising spring slush or hitting jumps in the backcountry.
But, unlike a lot of pro athletes, she has her feet firmly planted on the ground, regularly reminding herself and her fans that she is lucky to do what she does and that ultimately the wins don't matter, it is the joy of skiing that means the most to her. And, the simplicity of filming and exploring the mountains with friends or kicking back in her converted van with her faithful canine companion, Lumpi.
"When I look back, I want to be proud of the joy I felt while skiing - not just the success of winning."
In 2022, Ari suffered a season-ending knee injury through which she documented her return to skiing in her 3-part film series, FIRST. Back to full strength in 2023, Ari has a renewed focus on re-discovering a love for skiing outside of competition. From the powder of Japan to big mountain lines in Alaska, catch Ari continuing to push the boundaries of freeride skiing in a film festival near you this winter.
Ciao Ari!
